SMA Sunny Boy Hi Voltage Lightning Protection
SMA is a high-quality German manufacturer that has been making photovoltaic-powered utility intertie inverters since 1985. SMA has put more than 50,000 units into intertie service, primarily in the green German and European markets. The direct-intertie Sunny Boy series is their third-generation design. These are modular string inverters using 6 to 22 modules in a high-voltage string wired in series, which eliminates the need for combiner boxes and large wire. Maximum power point tracking delivers the highest possible wattage under all conditions. Maximum inverter efficiency and safety have been the primary design goals during development of all SMA products. All Sunny Boy inverters feature powder-coated, stainless steel, outdoor-rated, NEMA 4 cases that can be wall mounted right outside with the array. Higher temperatures will cause limited output or automatic shut-off to protect the inverter. Ground-fault protection is built into each inverter.
