Every PV system should employ a fused disconnect for safety. The function of this component is to disconnect all power-generating sources and all loads from the battery so that the system can be safely maintained and disconnected in emergency situations with the flick of a switch. We carry several different safety disconnects for different sized applications. Fuses should be sized according to the wire size you are using. We recommend using a 2-pole disconnect for the charging side of your batteries. One pole is used for the line between the panels and charge controller, and the other between the controller and the batteries. Make sure this fused disconnect can handle the maximum amperage of your array output. Another fuse or fused switch can be used to handle the discharge of your battery. Raintight boxes should be used if the box will be exposed to weather. The 60-amp 3-pole fused disconnect should be employed when the Enermaxer voltage regulator is used, which requires the third pole for disconnection. USA.
