Nitroprene is a new closed-cell, lightweight, hypoallergenic insulation material that's less expensive than conventional polyethylene foam, but superior in almost every way. It's highly UV-resistant and tolerates from -104ª to 230ªF, making it the best available choice for solar hot water systems. It's inherently self-extinguishing, highly flexible, will not support bacterial or fungal growth, and has a smooth clean surface texture. No CFCs, chlorine, or asbestos is used in manufacturing, and the material does not outgas. How is it not superior? Has an R-value of 3.6 per inch, compared to 4.0 with poly foam but we're offering a much thicker product than the 3/8' wall usually found in local hardware stores.
